JIOS Announced Special Issue on Learning Analytics and AI-Supported Learning Design
This Special Issue focuses on research that explores how educational data, learning analytics, and artificial intelligence can be transformed into meaningful and actionable support for educators, students, programme leaders, and institutions. It welcomes conceptual, empirical, methodological, and interdisciplinary contributions addressing the role of AI and learning analytics in evidence-informed educational decision-making, learning design, curriculum development, assessment, feedback, and institutional change.
Topics of interest include (not limited):
- actionable learning analytics;
- evidence-based interventions in education;
- AI-supported learning design;
- learning analytics for curriculum and study programme development;
- human-AI collaboration in educational decision-making;
- explainable and trustworthy AI in learning design;
- student agency and participatory learning analytics;
- equity, inclusion, and bias in AI-supported educational decision-making;
- evaluation methodologies for AI-supported educational interventions;
- organizational and institutional implications of AI in education.
The Special Issue is guest edited by Prof. Blaženka Divjak from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics,Croatia and Prof. Bart Rienties from The Open University, UK.
JIOS is an international peer-reviewed open access journal published by the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics. The journal has been published continuously since 1977 and offers several advantages for authors, including:

- double-blind peer review;
- rapid editorial screening;
- Online First publication model;

The submission deadline for the Special Issue is 31 December 2026. Manuscripts should be submitted through the JIOS platform, with the Special Issue selected during submission.
